Günther Theile studied psychoacoustics and communications theory at the Technical University in Berlin. He spent two years at the Heinrich-Hertz Institute and moved to the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT) in 1977, where he was leading the audio system section till 2008. He has obtained his Ph.D. in psychoacoustics from the Technical University of Berlin in 1980.
